pergola with gaps between the louvers

–

Being the Bay Area’s most trusted pergola specialist since 2006, we have a strong history of helping customers make informed decisions about (and properly installing) the right pergola for their space.

While we don’t win every bid, it’s common for us to receive messages from homeowners and business owners seeking a second opinion about issues with pergolas installed by other companies.

Here’s a recent example:
“Hi Julie, hoping you can help. The installation process with the other company we hired was not as smooth as expected, especially after paying so much for the product. Their salesperson seemed knowledgeable, but their installation crew was not as skilled. After installation, we noticed gaps between the louvers (see attached photos). Is this normal? We expected the louvers to fit tightly together without gaps. Please advise, please help.”

When we receive these messages, we can only offer information and guidance. In this specific instance, we shared that some lesser quality manufacturers claim that a two-inch gap between louvers is acceptable. At Pergolas by Julie, we disagree, especially for luxury products.
